glazed nutmeg breakfast muffins

These muffins are seriously amazing. Usually I make them and then dip pieces into this yummy cinnamon-sugar but last night I decided to go all out and I made a glaze.

1.5 c flour
1/2 c sugar
1.5 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp salt
1 egg
1/2 c milk
1/3 c melted butter/margarine

1.) Preheat oven to 350F, grease 12 muffin cups.
2.) stir together the flour, 1/2 c sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. In a separate bowl, beat the egg with a fork, stir in milk and 1/2 c melted butter. Add egg mix to flour mix all at once and stir until moistened–batter will be lumpy
3.) Spoon into muffin cups, bake for 20-25 mins or until a toothpick comes out clean.

(optional sugar dip)
1/4 c sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 c melted butter

combine the sugar and cinnamon. After muffins have cooled a bit, dip them into the butter and then into the cinnamon-sugar. serve warm.

(optional glaze)
3/4 c powdered sugar
2 tsp milk
1/8 tsp almond flavour/ 1/2 tsp orange or lemon peel

combine the sugar and milk, stir in additional milk 1/2 tsp at a time until it reaches drizzling consistency. Stir in additional flavourings if desired. Drizzle over muffin tops. I only had soy milk but the glaze turned out fine.

I love these muffins because they are so easy and quick to bake up. You should try them and tell me how they come out!
